Tonight we saw the Morrison's advert for Jersey Royal potatoes at half price at a pound for a pound.....
So with a normal price of £2 a pound, why does this seem a major hike or was so long ago that I was paying 20p a pound??

When a bag of chips went up from 3 old pence to 6, I knew the Universe was going ba-a-a-a-ad....
Always shocks me now the price of new Jersey potatoes and any spuds come to think of it...I won't pay it...make do with Egyptian, Cornish or some other new potato...

Oh thats sneaky, try to make us think we are getting a 'bargain' whilst stumping up the prices... really?
...and the Brain
But, cunning plan No1: you take your own bags in now don't you...lay one in the bottom of the trolley and inadvertently scoop the Jerseys into it as you are packing...if you get caught it could cause a trigger reaction where they check eveyone's bags and we won't wear that for long.
....bugger Morrisons, go to the farmer.
One of my favourite things when I lived in the UK was to grow my own spuds. It is the easiest thing in the world and whatever variety you choose tastes better than the most expensive bought kind.
One year when we were living in rented accommodation I even grew potatoes in a dustbin (bought for the purpose & one of those tin ones with holes in for burning garden waste) which worked very well.
I was always impatient and harvested them when they were small and new. I always used to feel like I was digging out buried treasure with potatoes
Growin your own is the only way not to pay a bloody fortune for something so basic. It's a disgrace, but I buy from the market and the actual farmer so cutting out the supermarket and their plastic bags too x
i remember spuds at 20p per pound.
then they hit £1 a pound.
and that was the end of cheap spuds.
tut.
love+light to you+yours
I just won't pay that sort of money for potatoes! I always get the cheapest ones I can find and they're fine - a spud is a spud in my books

It was long ago you were paying 20p a lb but never mind.
I was keeping quiet about 56p per half cwt.
